The highway code is a set of information, advice, guides and mandatory rules for all road users in Zimbabwe.

Its objective is to promote road safety. The Highway Code applies to animals, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and drivers. The Highway Code gives information on road signs, road markings, vehicle markings, and road safety. Any failure to comply with the code is not an offence in itself, but can be taken into account by a court. The Highway Code is put together by the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe and the Department for Transport and Infrastructural Development.

Recommendation
If one is learning to drive one should be familiar with the Highway Code for it plays a large role in the process of getting on the road and one will find it very hard to pass theory and practical tests without regularly consulting it. Once one has passed the book must not be banished, every motorist has a responsibility to know the rules inside and keeping a copy or buying a new one to consult every now and then is strongly recommended.
